The Anxiety Monster resides in the mind of Ax, and manifests as a ghastly apparition that only he can see, yelling out all of the horrible possibilities of any given scenario Ax might be in. When Ax can't get him under control, his effects can rise to the surface and send Ax into a spiral.

Occasionally, these thoughts are helpful to Ax, who can make rational decisions based on these ideas. More often than not, though, this process is oppressive for Ax, and, if left unchecked, can also effect him physically with panic attacks, nervous breakdowns, or possibly worse.
